On 23 Jul 1879 an offer from Mr Threlfall Ascroft, for fixtures in the Park, of a Sundial over 300 years old which formally stood in the Oldham Churchyard and several pieces of masonry, relics of the Old Oldham Church was accepted by the Park Committee.
The Committee requested the Chairman and Vice Chairman see to the above being fixed in a suitable place in the Park.
On 10 Oct 1906 the Sundial in the Park was moved to the Museum at the Central Library following an application from Mr Councillor Yates.
The remaining relics would most likely have been transferred to to other protective places at a later date.
